I have been to multiple meetings and retreats here over the last few years. The food is always good, and the wait staff are truly hospitable. The chapel is lovely and beautiful acoustics for sung liturgies.
Overnight accommodations are simple but fine, though the shared dormitory style bathrooms will not be to everyone's taste.
The layout of the center is funky. Getting "from here to there" was complex enough that I needed a map the first few visits.
Holy Family is special to me; I look forward to our annual parish retreat along with a group of other women who find the weekend experience spiritually uplifting and relaxing. The talks are inspiring- the atmosphere welcoming and warm- the team dedicated and caring. I am a pre-Vatican II Catholic but find nothing At Holy Family that is a threat to my traditional views, as I follow the example of Pope Francis. This is a loving community and a second spiritual home after my parish.
the new group sharing was great in the even smaller groups of 4. felt there was more intimacy and expressing issues close to heart. it was hard to hear the larger group of 30 or more. have been involved in groups since 1982. there are many solutions shared to one problem so gives insights into resolution appropriate to that person. if one does not work, have others to try. that's the blessing to group sharing. look forward to more sharing on retreats.
The artwork on the walls, the labyrinth set back behind the main buildings, and the air of welcome more than make up for the downsides.
I walked through it's doors four years ago and left a changed man who discovered himself. I return each year throughout the year in order to be enriched and revitalized. The Holy Spirit works wonders here.
Truely a place to recharge and enlighten. The whole staff is amaizing.
