The store owner may have some loyal customers, but if you are not already one consider going elsewhere unless you want to be treated poorly and bilked, as my daughter was.

Would give 0 stars, but that's not possible here. Agreed that customer service skills at The Beadoir in West Hartford are "completely uninviting." In fact, in Aug 2016 my student daughter was bilked out of some hard earned cash that she paid in advance to have a bracelet converted to a necklace. The proprietress "didn't remember" taking her money, didn't record it in her books (and admitted to never reconcile her cash drawer), didn't call my daughter when the jewelry was scheduled to be picked up, never worked on the piece, and never returned my daughter's calls placed to inquire about the status of her property.

The Beadoir is a gem -- part of what makes West Hartford unique and wonderful. Linda is as eclectic as the store and lovely to work with. She's knowledgeable and down-to-earth. I love to take my children here to choose a few beads to enhance their artistic creations. Their imaginations take off when they see all the tiny beautiful choices. I give them a small budget and let them decide what they would like. Steer children toward bracelets (not necklaces) and show them how to space with seed beads to keep costs manageable. A visit here is great for helping to develop awareness of costs in children -- it's all so concrete. Also great for developing math skills as they multiply how many cents per bead and add it all up! And when you use such beautiful materials, the results are bound to be gorgeous. So much more satisfying than what one can make with the plastic beads children are usually given.

The proprietress admitted to have been distracted with a disagreement with a car rental company at the time, but refused to acknowledge that her distraction just might have been the cause of her failure to record this cash payment or give my daughter a receipt. Meanwhile, the proprietress' notes on the envelope that contained the bracelet clearly show what was supposed to be done with it, complete with the number of inches of chain to add.

The customer service skills are completely univiting. When I had the shop owner repair and item of mine, she damaged it and offered absolutely no remedy. Very disappointing!
